The Outdoor Council of Australia welcomes Snow Resorts Australia as a national member, recognising the important role alpine resorts play across outdoor recreation, outdoor education and adventure tourism.

The Outdoor Council of Australia (OCA) is pleased to welcome Snow Resorts Australia as a member, further strengthening the national voice for the Outdoor Industry. Snow Resorts Australia is the collective voice of Australia’s alpine resorts, representing commercial snow resort operators and their stakeholders with a focus on industry leadership, stakeholder engagement, long-term sustainability, economic growth and community enrichment.

OCA Chair Lori Modde said the decision by Snow Resorts Australia to join OCA reflected a shared commitment to building safer, stronger and more sustainable outdoor experiences across Australia.

“We are delighted to welcome Snow Resorts Australia to OCA and look forward to their contribution to national conversations that impact the whole Outdoor Industry,” Ms Modde said.
“Alpine resorts are not separate from the Outdoor Industry — they are a vital part of it. They support recreation, education, tourism, regional economies, employment pathways and community connection.
“It is clear our values are strongly aligned, particularly around safety, sustainability, participation and the long-term future of outdoor experiences in Australia.”

The inclusion of Snow Resorts Australia brings an important alpine perspective to national advocacy and policy discussions, including workforce development, risk management, sustainability, access, infrastructure, safety standards, insurance and climate resilience.

Snow Resorts Australia will also have a stronger connection to the wider national outdoor network and an opportunity to contribute to shared advocacy on issues that affect many parts of the industry.

The Outdoor Industry is broad and diverse, spanning land, water, trails, mountains, camps, parks, alpine areas and community-based outdoor experiences. OCA believes that bringing these voices together is critical to demonstrating the scale, value and importance of the industry to government, regulators, funders and the broader community.

Ms Modde said the relationship would strengthen the collective voice of the sector at a national level.

“The more connected we are as an industry, the stronger our voice becomes,” Ms Modde said. “Working together with Snow Resorts Australia will help ensure alpine resorts are part of the broader conversations shaping the future of outdoor recreation, outdoor education and adventure tourism in this country.”

OCA welcomes Snow Resorts Australia and looks forward to working together to support a stronger, more connected and more influential Outdoor Industry.
